The Hubert H. Humphrey Fellowship 2016, Now Open.
The Hubert H. Humphrey Fellowship is a program for mid-career professionals in many fields and takes them from designated countries, including Nigeria to the United States for a year of specialized, non-degree graduate-level study, leadership development, and professional collaboration with U.S. counterparts at selected U.S. universities. The types of university programs arranged for Humphrey fellows depart from a traditional discipline-oriented focus and have a problem-solving and experience-sharing emphasis. Individuals aiming at doing a degree program abroad should not/not apply for the Humphrey program. Additional eligibility criteria and program fields are stated in the attached documents.
The objective of the Humphrey program is to provide fellows with an overall experience that broadens their perspectives, enhances their capability to assume greater career responsibilities, and provides opportunities to establish useful professional contacts. To accomplish these objectives, programs are designed to include various combinations of course work, independent projects, internships, consultations with U.S. faculty experts, field trips, and special seminars. Under the guidance of a designated faculty advisor or “coordinator”, fellows plan programs that best suit their individual career development needs.
Funding for the Humphrey program is primarily provided by the U.S. government through the United States Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs. The program also benefits from the generous support of other co-sponsors.
